Palampur MLA and Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) today said that under his ‘vision for development of Palampur’, all villages of the constituency would be connected with motorable roads in the next two years. He said the work to construct these roads was in full swing for the past one year and necessary funds had been allocated for the purpose. He added that he was personally reviewing these projects.

The work to construct the roads is in full swing for the past one year and necessary funds had already been allocated. Also reviewing these projects personally. — Ashish Butail, MLA
Butail laid the foundation stone of Baba Barag road near Palampur, which would benefit about six villages. In the absence of rail services in the, roads were lifeline for the people. He said during the BJP rule, all development activities in Palampur remained suspended due to the shortage of funds. He added that projects like the construction of roads, school buildings, hospitals and expansion of the bus stand suffered the most.
He assured the people that he would personally review the progress of the development projects regularly and ensure that there was no shortage of funds. Earlier, Butail laid the foundation stone for the forest rest house near Kandwari.
“The state government will prepare a master plan for proper and planned development of Palampur town. The main focus of the plan will be on developing the tea town as a major tourist hub and maintaining the environment,” said Butail.
He said he had already taken up the matter with the authorities concerned to prepare a master plan at the earliest. The plan was needed to check haphazard and unplanned development in the area, he added.
He said suggestions for the plan would be sought from all sections of society, NGOs, and intellectuals of the town. He added that the previous BJP government had upgraded the Palampur Municipal Council to a municipal corporation, but did not prepare a plan for proper development.
Butail said with the formation of the municipal corporation, the state government would give priority to urban development and launch various projects, including sewage treatment and solid waste management, in urban areas.
