Allegations baseless: Vidhan Sabha spokesperson
Following allegations of favouritism by the BJP in the recent appointments at the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat, the Vidhan Sabha spokesperson today said that no change had been made to the recruitment process and reservations for all categories as specified by the Supreme Court were made while making these appointments. The spokesperson further said that just like at the Raj Bhawan, the high court and the State Public Service Commission, recruitments in Vidhan Sabha are done through its own Secretariat.
“The post of the Speaker is constitutional. If anyone casts aspersions on the constitutional post through media or social media without knowing the facts, it will be considered a violation of the dignity and privilege of the constitutional post,” the spokesperson said.
Clearing the air about the recent appointments in the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat, the spokesperson said 32 appointments were made recently and the selected candidates belonged to different districts. “Two candidates were selected from Shimla district, two from Sirmaur, one from Bilaspur, seven from Hamirpur, one from Kangra, one from Una, 15 from Chamba, two from Mandi and one from Lahaul Spiti,” he said.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur asked the government to investigate the matter. “Serious allegations are being levelled by the candidates who took the exam regarding the fairness of the recruitment process. The government must investigate it so that the truth comes out,” said Thakur.
