The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission will hold the HP Subordinate Allied Services Examination on February 9 from 11 am to 2 pm in 170 examination centre across the state. The commission will capture biometrics of the aspirants and these impressions will be used to match the biometrics of candidates during the second and third stage of examination and the recruitment process, said secretary of the commission Rakhil Kahlon. The commission has decided to have biometrics attendance of candidates in all future examinations.
Workshop on Start-ups
Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Vice Chancellor Dr Parvinder Kaushal has urged students to develop ideas in agriculture, horticulture, forestry and allied disciplines into successful business ventures by utilising government schemes. He was interacting with students during a one-day workshop on the ‘Startup Ideas on Entrepreneurship’. The incubation centre of the university’s Department of Business Management organised the workshop in collaboration with the state Industries Department. Kaushal said they would provide all technical support for nurturing their ideas and added that it was important that there was knowledge-sharing between industry and academia and collaboration for training of human resource. He added that vocational courses for meeting specific demands of the industry could be started while the industry could contribute through fellowships and expert lectures. He also mooted the idea of setting up small demo units with the help of the industry and added that the university was in the process of signing MoU with the Industries Department, which would benefit students in securing jobs, trainings and pitching their ideas to industrialists.
HPU VC nominated KU council member
Himachal Pradesh University Vice Chancellor Sikander Kumar has been nominated member of the executive council of the Kurukshetra University for a term of two years, a communication released by the Haryana Raj Bhawan stated this here on Thursday. Kumar has thanked the Governor of Haryana and Chancellor of the University Satya Narayan Arya and assured all-round educational development of the university.
Students on GPAT merit list feted
Students of Laureate Pharmacy Institute, Kathog, Nikhil Sharma, Dinesh Kumar, Shalini Dogra, Visakha, Ankita, Kanchan Bhatti and Sagar Choudhary are on the merit list of the national-level Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT), 2020. The examination is conducted every year by the National Testing Agency of India to enrol aspirants in Master Doctorate Level Courses in pharmacy. On the basis of this examination, students are awarded scholarships by the Ministry of Human Resource Development for master’s level course and doctorate in pharmacy. Principal MS Ashawat congratulated the selected students for this achievement.
World Cancer Day observed
The World Cancer Day was observed at the Shoolini University. Various activities were organised by staff and students to mark the occasion. These included a lecture to raise awareness on cancer. To encourage its prevention, a detection and treatment camp and a session on road safety and basic life support was conducted by policeman-poet-singer ASI Balvinder Singh of the Chandigarh Police. A YouWeCan team organised a health camp in which 80-100 women turned up for the checkup. A road safety awareness session in collaboration with the Chandigarh Police was also organised and policeman Rajiv Sharma spoke on the importance of traffic rules and various ways to prevent road accidents. This was followed by a session on basic life support to save lives during emergency.
