Alumni gather to celebrate 25 years of NIT Hamirpur

A two-day Alumni Meet-cum-Silver Jubilee Reunion of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) concluded at NIT Hamirpur today. Prof HM Suryawanshi, Director of NIT, said that alumni from the Class of 2000, from across India and abroad, had gathered to commemorate 25 years of their association with their alma mater and to witness its remarkable growth.

He stated that the alumni were visibly impressed by the transformation of the campus and the institute’s progressive outlook in various domains, including academic expansion and major infrastructure developments such as construction of hostels, advanced research laboratories and state-of-the-art e-classrooms.

Prof Suryawanshi, who welcomed the alumni, said, “Our alumni are our priceless possession and ambassadors. Their continued connection is essential for our growth story. Their insights into industry trends help us stay current and innovative in our academic offerings.” He also highlighted the global achievements of NIT students and emphasised the importance of alumni in enhancing the institute’s perception and rankings through active engagement.

Prof Ashwani Kumar Chandel, Dean (Alumni Affairs), said that the event was not only a moment of joy and nostalgia but also a reflection of the collective journey of NIT. He urged alumni to contribute actively in areas such as industry-institute interaction, curriculum development aligned with industry needs, enhancing placement opportunities, launching regional and global alumni chapters and introduction of new courses.

Dr Archana Santosh Nanoty, Registrar of NIT, said this gathering was a tribute to the legacy of NIT. She added that the institute grows stronger with every step its alumni take in the world and that their feedback is invaluable to the future growth of NIT.
