The Governor said that Ambedkar laid the strong foundation of social justice, equality and constitutional values, which would continue to guide the nation for generations to come. He added that it was our collective responsibility to imbibe his ideals and contribute towards building an inclusive, just and empowered India.
Shukla said that today, the Indian democracy based on the Constitution drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar was regarded as the largest democracy in the world. He added that through various provisions and articles, the Constitution of India clearly defined the importance of both rights and duties for every citizen.
The Governor said, “We often remain conscious of our rights but it is only by fulfilling our duties that our rights remain protected. “Therefore, we must first adhere to the duties enshrined in the Constitution and then think of our rights.”
