A cricket enthusiast and non-resident Indian (NRI), Vishal Kaushal, extended his hand to support budding cricket players of the district by providing them with cricket kits at Atal Bihari Cricket Stadium in Nadaun here on Wednesday.

Kaushal, who had moved to the USA in 1990, handed over five cricket kits, which comprised a cricket bat, cricket pads, gloves, arm and elbow guards, to the president of District Cricket Association, Prem Thakur, and secretary Anil Bhatia. Kaushal said he was a member of the district cricket team in 1987-88 and wanted to support the budding cricket players of his native town. He said he would provide more such kits to the players on the recommendation of the association.

Prem Thakur, president of Himachal Cricket Academy (HCA), said there were many players who had great potential to succeed in the field of cricket, but they could not continue playing the sport as they could not afford buying the kits. He said the support received from Vishal Kaushal would be of great help in encouraging potential players. Anil Bhatia secretary of HCA said the association was thankful for the support extended by the NRI.
