The sighting of a King Cobra in Paonta Sahib on Tuesday afternoon created panic among the residents of Byas village. Just a few days ago, a 10-foot-long King Cobra had been rescued from the same area by the forest Department and released safely into the forest. However, in a surprising turn of events, a similar-looking snake appeared once again near the same spot, alarming the locals.

Upon receiving the information, a team from the Paonta Sahib range forest office swiftly arrived at the location. After a challenging rescue operation, they successfully captured the massive reptile and relocated it to a safer forested area. Experts estimate that this snake was also about 10-feet long, leading to speculation that it might be the same King Cobra that was previously rescued.

This marks the second such incident in Paonta Sahib within a few days, raising concerns about the increasing presence of venomous snakes in human-inhabited areas.

In response to the incident, the Forest Department has urged residents to remain calm and avoid taking matters into their own hands if they spot any wildlife. Instead, they should immediately report such sightings to the authorities to ensure proper action.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Paonta Sahib, Aishwarya Raj confirmed the successful rescue and reassured the community that the department is monitoring the situation closely. The repeated sighting of King Cobras in the area highlights the need for increased awareness and precautionary measures to ensure both human and wildlife safety.
