Anti-ragging week at Himachal Pradesh University
Shimla, August 19
There is a need to create a healthy educational environment and address the issues affecting the mental health of students. This was stated by Dr Yudh Veer, Associate Professor, Department of Education, Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) while addressing students during the anti-ragging week organised in the department.
He said ragging was a violation of the freedom of students. “Ragging is not only physical, but also mental harassment,” he added.
Vandana, a student of the BEd (third semester) course, and Navita Sharma, a student of the MA in Education (first semester) course, shared their views on the dangers of ragging and its various forms. Vandana highlighted recent cases of ragging. Navita discussed the punishment for students involved in ragging, and measures to prevent it in educational institutions.
Posters prepared by students of MEd, BEd and MA (Education) courses were displayed during the event. — TNS
