The MP said while the state government is silent over the menace of drug abuse and drug trade, the percentage of youth being affected is increasing. He charged that the stains of ‘chitta’ are now spilling on the ‘khakhi’, adding that the raid by a state SIT police team at the residences of some members the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) in Una prove the involvement of some police persons in the crime.

Anurag Thakur said the raid at the residence of a former Congress Municipal Councillor in Santoshgarh urban area of Una district further pointed towards the involvement of some persons or leaders owing allegiance to the ruling party in the drugs mafia. He said in protest against the raids, the entire Santoshgarh Congress Committee has tendered resignations and a copy of the resignation has also been forwarded to the president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, Pratibha Singh, who is yet to take any action into the matter.

The BJP leader said the Chief Minister has announced a zero tolerance of the ruling party towards drugs, but the two recent deaths of youth due to drug overdose in Mandi city and the second one in Balh show the apathy of the government and the law enforcement agencies towards containing the menace.
