MP Anurag Thakur said the Congress party marginalised Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel despite his significant contribution to its formation, during his address at the Sardar@150 Unity March in Barsar on Friday.
Thakur praised Patel for his historic role in uniting 562 princely states to create a unified India, which, he said, laid the foundation for today’s united nation. He added the ‘Statue of Unity’ in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, not only commemorates Patel’s memory but also symbolises India’s indomitable unity.
“India is celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel with great enthusiasm. He laid the foundation of the administrative system, and today’s India is the result of his vision,” Thakur said. He called on the youth to serve the country with unity, discipline and dedication.
Thakur further described Patel’s legacy as defined by his pragmatism, strong will and unparalleled contribution to India’s unity, describing his achievements as unprecedented.
Barsar MLA Indradutt Lakhanpal, former Barsar MLA Baldev Sharma and district BJP president Rakesh Thakur were also present at the event.
