Hamirpur, August 1
“Rahul Gandhi has the bloodline of freedom fighters and martyrs, who struggled for the unity and integrity of the country,” said HPCC chief spokesperson Prem Kaushal during a media interaction here today. He said, “It is not Rahul Gandhi who should be questioned about his caste, but another individual who has denounced his biological birth.”
Kaushal said it was unfortunate that the Member of Parliament from here, Anurag Thakur, raised the issue of Gandhi’s caste, which was expunged by the Speaker, in the Parliament. He added that the Prime Minister went a step forward by appreciating Thakur for his unparliamentarily remark.
He said the caste of a person was known by their conduct, language and behaviour. He added that Jawaharlal Nehru, the great grandfather of Gandhi, had given the prime time of his life to the freedom struggle of the country and spent over 13 years in prison during the British Raj.
He said Thakur had failed to prove his leadership qualities due to which he was dropped from the Union Cabinet. He added that Thakur was apt in spreading hatred. He said Thakur was following the footsteps of Smriti Irani and his fate would be similar to her. He added that Thakur should have learnt something from his father Prem Kumar Dhumal, who served as the Chief Minister of the state twice.
Kaushal said instead of pleasing the BJP high command with ugly remarks, Thakur should work for the people who had sent him to the Parliament. — OC
