APG Shimla University’s journalism students celebrate World Radio Day
The students of journalism at APG Shimla University celebrated World Radio Day with great enthusiasm here yesterday.
The event was organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication to mark the importance of radio as a medium of mass communication. The students showcased their skills and creativity through various programmes, including radio plays, news bulletins and talk shows. They also highlighted the significance of radio in promoting social change, education and entertainment.
The event began with a discussion on the history and evolution of radio, followed by a panel discussion on the role of radio in modern times. The students also presented their own radio shows on their campus radio, which included interviews with experts, debates and music programmes.
Dr Pyar Singh, head of the department of Journalism and Mass Communication, said, “World Radio Day is a celebration of the power of radio to bring people together and promote social change. We are proud to see our students showcasing their talents and creativity through this medium,” he said.
The event was attended by faculty members, students, and guests from the media industry. The students were awarded certificates and prizes for their outstanding performances. “World Radio Day is celebrated on February 13 every year to mark the importance of radio as a medium of communication,” said Dr Singh.
