A delegation of the Apple Growers’ Association of Bali Chowki in Mandi, led by coordinator Rakesh Singha, met with the SIT under DIG Digvijay Singh Negi at Shimla on Wednesday. The delegation discussed serious concerns regarding the embezzlement of funds from farmers in the Bali Chowki.

The growers have reported of having suffered financial losses due to fraudulent activities by these traders, who have not only misappropriated large sums of money but also threatened the farmers with violence when they sought repayment. In response, the body has urged the SIT to file criminal charges against the culprits involved in this financial misconduct. The body has also urged the government to enforce strict regulation of the markets according to the market laws.
