Himachal: Apple season kicks off today; officials inspect control room

DC, SP direct depts concerned to make all arrangements

With the apple season starting on Monday, Shimla Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anupam Kashyap and Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi today inspected the Apple Control Room at Fagu.

They instructed officials of the departments concerned to ensure basic facilities for the staff in the control rooms so that they do not face inconvenience.

The officials said all arrangements for the apple season must be completed. They stated that Apple Control Rooms had been established in Fagu and Balag, where employees from the horticulture, revenue and police departments would be deployed 24×7 during the season.

The DC said GPS-enabled vehicles transporting apple to markets would be registered at the Apple Control Room. “The details of vehicles will be entered in the Himseva app. After this, vehicles will proceed towards their destinations,” the DC added. The SP directed the officials to ensure proper barricading outside the control room so that traffic movement was not affected by to vehicles carrying apple.
