The Vidhan Sabha today passed the HP Appropriation (Number 4) Bill, 2024, to meet an expenditure of Rs 2,848.43 crore made on certain services for the financial year 2015-16 in excess of the amount granted for those services then.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who also holds the finance portfolio, tabled the Bill in the House to facilitate the passing of the supplementary budget and authorisation for the appropriation of some amounts out of the Consolidated Fund of Himachal.

“From the Consolidated Fund of the state, Rs 2,848 crore shall be deemed to have been authorised to be paid and applied to meet the amount spent for defraying the charges during 2015-16, in excess of the amount authorised for these services in that year,” the Bill reads.

The extra amount spent in excess of the amount granted was spent under various heads, including Rs 190.95 crore on revenue front, Rs 4.65 lakh on education, Rs 63.08 crore on roads and bridges, Rs 185.41 crore on irrigation and water supply, Rs 4.25 crore on forest and wildlife, Rs 76.73 lakh on social justice and empowerment, Rs 37.25 crore on power development, Rs 34.73 crore on urban development, Rs 47.13 crore on revenue and Rs 2,319.16 crore as capital in the Finance Department.
