The police today arrested the kingpin of the armed robbery that took place in Una city in March. Accused Harsh Tyagi, alias Sonu Tyagi, a resident of Patti Rampur village in Bagpat district of Uttar Pradesh, was nabbed with the help of the UP Police and brought to Una for investigation.
As per a press release by DSP (Headquarters) Kulwinder Singh, on 15 March, four hooded men had looted Rs 9 lakh at gunpoint from the premises of a private firm located on the Una-Hoshiarpur road in Una. The miscreants had also fired in the air. He said a case under various sections of the IPC and Arms Act had been registered.
The DSP said in April, during the investigation, a mobile SIM card vendor, namely Ashish Kumar from Khanna in Punjab, was arrested for selling a fake one to two accused — Rajiv Kaushal and Surinder Kaushal. The latter, who are residents of Dehlan village in Una district and were part of the crime, were also arrested.
Kulwinder Singh said some time later, a third accused, namely Rajat Rana alias Raja, a resident of Sekhowal in Garhshankar Tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab was arrested along with a woman co-accused, Ravina alias Roop, a resident of Siddhwal village in Patiala.
He added that four pistols, 98 live cartridges and cash amounting to Rs 2.24 lakh was recovered from the possession of Rajat Rana.
The DSP said with the help of the UP Police, Harsh Tyagi, the main accused in the crime, was nabbed on October 27 and brought to Una. Harsh already has about half a dozen criminal cases registered against him in different states, said the DSP. He said the accused had been remanded in seven-day police custody by the Una court.
