The Army Training Command (ARTRAC), Shimla, has approved a sum of Rs 15 lakh to enhance facilities in 22 Sainik Rest Houses across the state. The task has been entrusted to the Sainik Welfare Department and the required stock will be procured through the local Army canteen.
Brig MS Sharma, Director, Sainik Welfare, expressed gratitude to ARTRAC and General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Lt Gen Devendra Sharma. “There was a dire need for essential items, including almirahs, LED TVs, refrigerators, ACs, water dispensers, heat pillars and bed linens in the rest houses. This generous support will significantly improve the facilities in these rest houses. It will benefit our ex-servicemen, war widows and their families, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to the welfare of its veterans,” he said.
He added that, continuing its tradition of meaningful assistance, Headquarters ARTRAC has extended substantial financial support for upgrading all Sainik Rest Houses under the Sainik Welfare Department. Essential items worth Rs 15 lakh have been provided for 22 functional rest houses across Himachal Pradesh.
The support is expected to improve amenities and enhance comfort for guests staying in these rest houses, many of whom are veterans and their families. The upgraded facilities aim to create a more welcoming and dignified environment for those who have served the nation.
