Art exhibition at Gaiety Theatre in Shimla

Artist Tarun Desai’s The Art Foundation, Shimla, will present an art exhibition at Gaiety Theatre from July 16 to 20. More than 40 canvas paintings by the artist will be at display. His work includes series of still life, landscape and nature, seascapes, portraits, and cultural and heritage oil-paintings.

Students of DAv College excel

Students of MCM DAV College, Kangra, have brought laurels to the district as they made it to the merit list of the recently announced BCom final results of the Himachal Pradesh University. The college principal, Dr Baljeet Singh Patial, said Ankita bagged the top position in the university while Ishita, Charu Dhiman and Isha Thakur got second, fourth and tenth position, respectively. Patial said it was a matter of pride for the college.

SFI holds protest at HPU

The Student Federation of India (SFI) staged a dharna outside the HPU VC’s office on Friday over alleged irregularities in admission to the PhD courses in Shimla on Friday. The SFI said a supernumerary seat had been kept in every department for professors who want to enrol in PhD. The seat had neither been advertised nor there’s any entrance test for it, they added. The SFI said many ineligible professors, including those teaching in private colleges, have enrolled for the PhD courses using this seat.
