Assess flood damage in Janghi, officials told

Chamba, June 8

After taking stock of damages caused by a cloudburst in a remote Janghi panchayat of Mehla development block in the district, Deputy Commissioner DC Rana directed revenue officials to assess the damage caused by flood water in the area.

The flood caused by torrential rain wreaked havoc in Janghi on Sunday night. Water from overflowing drains entered houses and residents had to come out. The rooms and courtyards of the houses in the lower part of the area were inundated with soil and water.

Accompanied by officials concerned, the DC visited the affected villages and interacted with people, assuring them of all possible help, besides channeling the drains. He instructed officials to remove debris that came with water in people’s houses. — OC
