The District Welfare Office of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment organised a one-day awareness camp at the Panchayat Office, Ribba, under the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
With around 150 participants, the programme was presided over by Ribba Gram Panchayat Pradhan Radhika Negi. She provided detailed insights into the Civil Rights Protection Act, 1955, and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Additionally, she expressed concern over the growing menace of substance abuse in society and stressed on collective efforts to combat it.
Subhadra Devi, Child Development Project Officer, Pooh, briefed the attendees about various schemes implemented under ICDS. Protection Officer Meera elaborated on the Chief Minister Sukh Ashray and Shiksha schemes.
District Welfare Officer Balbir Thakur informed the participants about the PCR Act and various welfare policies and schemes of the department. An official from the Police Department shared insights on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign) and the “Drug-Free Himachal” mobile app.
Members of the District Awareness and Vigilance Committee Sushila Meme and Sneh Lata; District Labour Welfare Officer Sapan Jasrotia; Panchayat Samiti member Pratibha Negi; SHO Moorang Jawahar Thakur; and other officials, employees and panchayat representatives were present on the occasion.
