An awareness drive was launched in Chamba on Wednesday to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign. The programme, which is set to run until 8th March, was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal in a ceremony at the district headquarters.

Addressing the gathering at the event, DC Repaswal described the campaign as a transformative, people-driven initiative, highlighting the active participation of all sections of society. He stressed the campaign’s key role in combating gender discrimination and empowering girls.

The Deputy Commissioner also noted significant improvements in child sex ratios in blocks with historically low numbers, attributing these advances to grassroots efforts. He called for continued personal and societal change to further these gains.
