Awareness on responsible use of Internet necessary: Kangra DC
A workshop was organised at the Deputy Commissioner’s office today to commemorate ‘Safer Internet Day’. Presiding over the event, Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said, “The safe and responsible use of Internet is in everyone’s interest. Widespread awareness among people is necessary to avoid cybercrime and other dangers related to misuse of Internet.”
He added that this day is celebrated to increase awareness and promote safe and responsible use of Internet.
According to the DC, any technology is a boon or a curse depending on its end use. If Internet is used safely and responsibly, then it is a great boon in today’s time, he said. Bairwa said considering the utility of Internet, its correct use was imperative.
Akshay Mehta, District Informatics Officer (NIC), gave a detailed presentation on ‘safe internet’ and the importance of cyber security in today’s digital world. The participants were told about the dos and don’ts and their doubts were also resolved to promote a safe online environment. In the workshop, an in-depth discussion was held with all the participants on safe use of Internet and cyber security.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Vinay Kumar, AC to DC Subhash Gautam and officers and employees of various departments were present at the workshop.
