Addressing students during a special awareness programme organised at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Basantpur, Sharma said that ‘chitta’ was harmful to the body and mind as it negatively impacted studies, sports and life. “If you see anything wrong anywhere, report it to your parents, teachers or a police officer. By staying away from drugs, we can fulfill our dreams and live a happy life,” he added.

Sharma said awareness about drug addiction was crucial, especially for young people. To avoid addiction, one must learn about the dangers of addiction and educate others about it, too.

“Choose friends who inspire you to stay on the right path. In your free time, exercise, play sports or pursue a hobby. If you feel yourself drifting into addiction, talk to your family or teachers immediately,” he said. On the occasion, children were also made to take a pledge to stay away from drugs.
