A special team of the Dharamsala police arrested a drug peddler with 19.46 grams of “chitta” (heroin) at Baijnath in Kangra district, SP Ashok Rattan said here on Tuesday.

He said that the accused identified as Sunil Kumar, alias Sonu (36), a resident of Kotli village in Baijnath, was nabbed with 19.46 grams of “chitta” during a police raid.

The SP said that a police team was on routine patrol when it received reliable information that Sunil was selling “chitta” at his rented accommodation located near the Civil Hospital road in Baijnath.

The police team raided Sunil’s house and caught him red-handed with the contraband. Preliminary investigation suggested that he had recently procured the narcotics from Punjab.
