Punjab minister Harjot Singh Bains backs people’s stir against entry tax by Himachal Pradesh

Members of the Toll Tax Hatao Morcha on Thursday blocked traffic on the main Nangal-Una national highway and staged a dharna in protest against the entry tax charged by Himachal on vehicles registered in Punjab.

The dharna began around 10.30 am near the entry tax barrier in Mehatpur city and continued till 12 pm. Members of the Kirti Kisan Union also participated in the dharna.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, who represents the Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency, has extended support to people’s struggle against the entry tax imposed by the Himachal Pradesh Government on vehicles registered in Punjab.

Bains expressed strong disapproval of the tax, calling it both illegal and unjustified. He called for immediate intervention by the Himachal Government to revoke the tax.
