Bali proposes chopper service to Himachal's shaktipeeths

Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Chairman RS Bali has proposed helicopter servcie to the state’s prominent Shaktipeeths — Naina Devi, Chintpurni, Jwala Ji, Bajreshwari (Kangra) and Chamunda — to boost spiritual tourism and ensure safe and convenient travel for devotees. Bali said that this initiative would not only enhance pilgrimage experience but also improve tourism revenue.

He represented Himachal Pradesh at the first Northern Regional Civil Aviation Conference in Dehradun. The conference was chaired by Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu and saw participation from aviation experts and state representatives from across North India.

Bali also emphasised the urgent need for helicopter ambulance service to strengthen emergency healthcare access in the remote and difficult terrains of the state.

He highlighted the challenges being faced at the Gaggal Airport near Dharamsala and urged the Central Government to revise the current 5-km visibility requirement for flight operations, which often hampered air connectivity in the region.

He called for systematic development and strengthening of the existing helipads in Himachal, along with the identification of new suitable sites. “If plans are prepared by considering the geographical and cultural features of the state, they will not only promote tourism but also provide relief and security to common people,” said Bali. He added that the proposed measures would significantly boost the local economy and create employment opportunities.
