Baloh village youth wins UK scholarship

Ankit Singh Jaswal, a resident of Baloh village in Hamirpur district, has been awarded the Prabhu Venkatesan Endowed Memorial Scholarship, worth £27,910 (Rs 33.13 lakh), to pursue an MSc in Aerospace Dynamics at Cranfield University in England.

This scholarship is awarded to only one Indian student each year. Ankit, who secured a global rank of 25, is the first person from Himachal Pradesh to receive the honour.

Ankit’s academic journey is a reflection of his determination and ambition. His father, Janvej Singh, is a senior bank manager at Kangra Central Cooperative Bank in Hamirpur, while his mother, Lata Devi, is the pradhan of Gram Panchayat Baloh.

He completed his schooling at Hamirpur Public School and earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai. He later undertook a research internship at University College London, which further strengthened his academic foundation. Ankit will begin his MSc course in Aerospace Dynamics at Cranfield University, a field that aligns with his passion for aviation technology.
