Bamboo, jute crafts, spices displayed at NABARD Mela

Shimla, February 16

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh today inaugurated the five-day NABARD Samarth Mela organised at the Ridge Ground here. This fair would conclude on February 20.

Bamboo and jute crafts, silk products, mountain spices, pulses, honey, walnuts, famous woollen handlooms such as shawls, caps and mufflers made by rural women from various states of India and various districts of the state are on display at the fair.

The minister, while addressing the gathering at the fair, said NABARD was making every effort for the development of infrastructure in the state.

“Through NABARD Samarth Mela, a suitable platform is being provided for women’s self-help groups, farmer producer organisations and artisans to sell their products,” he said.

Stalls from eight states of the country, and various districts of the state had been set up at this fair, through which various types of products were being made available to locals and tourists alike, Singh said.

NABARD Regional Manager Vivek Pathania welcomed the chief guest and highlighted various activities being run by NABARD.
