Solan, July 22
With space constrain in Covid care centres to house patients and their primary contacts, hotels have been converted into isolation facilities in the industrial hub of the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) belt.
Positive patients are being detected in the area every day and it has become difficult to accommodate them in quarantine centres.
SDM, Nalagarh, Prashant Deshta said they were exploring the possibility of setting up more quarantine centres.
Figures secured from the health officials reveal that 181 industrial workers have tested positive in the BBN area so far after the state government revised the policy to permit the entry of migrant workers. These include 85 workers from Wrigley India (WIPL), 59 from Sara Textiles, 32 from Aristo Pharmaceuticals, two from Winsome and three from Deepak Spinning mills. The patients from Wrigley India and Sara Textiles were isolated in hotels which have been converted into isolation facilities.
The workers from WIPL have been housed at Nimantran resort while those from Sara Textile in HN Regency in the BBN. There were three Covid care centres at Arki, Nalagarh, Nauni and one Covid hospital at ESI Katha. There was no end to the industrial workforce testing positive and the number was rising with each passing day. The situation is so grim that even a staff member of Nimantran resort, where the infected patients from WIPL have been housed, tested positive today.
