Solan, July 26
To ensure compliance of lockdown orders, the police today used a drone for the surveillance of the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) industrial belt.
The District Magistrate has imposed a lockdown in the BBN area since Saturday up to 6 am on Tuesday keeping in view the alarming spike in the Covid-19 cases.
Keeping a check on thousands of jhuggi dwellers is a major challenge for the authorities. Police teams have maintained a strict vigil. No violation was reported as people chose to stay confined within their homes and only a fraction of industries were found working. The roads wore a deserted look and, except health workers and policemen, no one else was seen on the streets.
Block Medical Officer KD Jassal said house-to-house contact tracing was undertaken at three vulnerable sites comprising 1,011 houses and a population of 2,639 at Haripur Sandholi, Sallewal and New Nalagarh was covered. The other vulnerable areas in Baddi having a population of about one lakh would be covered in a few days.
As many as 25 per cent Covid cases have surfaced from Solan district and the BBN accounts for more than 85 per cent of the cases in the district.
The SP, Baddi, appealed to all panchayat pradhans along the Haryana border to ensure that people from other states did not enter the BBN belt.
