SP, Solan, Gaurav Singh said that the Sarva Hindu Samaj and the Beopar Mandal, Solan, had announced a bandh in protest against the lathi-charge on Hindus by the Shimla police and outsiders residing in Solan city without registration. The demonstration was led by Beopar Mandal president Kushal Jethi and Hindu Samaj representatives. As per their route, the rally started from the Children Park via Upper Bazaar and reached the old bus stand where it was to conclude.

During the demonstration, the protesters scuffled with a person on the Mall Road and raised slogans against a particular community, the video of which went viral on social media.

The rally was diverted from the fixed route towards the Kotla Nullah. The police said that the demonstrators deliberately took the rally towards the Thodo Ground where the Himachal Utsav was going on. Though they were told that as the scheduled time of the rally was over, they should finish their demonstration, they proceeded to the Thodo Ground.

After the rally was over, some people went to the DC’s office to submit a memorandum because of which the protesters disobeyed the orders regarding the route fixed by the administration for the rally and held demonstration.
