Better snow-clearing machinery needed

Snowfall has exposed the inadequacy of the district administration in restoring traffic in the state capital even after mild snowfall. Commuters faced a lot of inconvenience due to the Circular Road not having been opened, especially from the Lift towards Sanjauli. Thankfully, being a second Saturday and Sunday, office-goers were saved from the agony of trudging on snow to reach their respective destinations. Install crash barriers along Tihra road in Mandi

The Avahadevi-Tihra road in Mandi is prone to road accidents. It lacks crash barriers at key points. The road has been widened for smooth vehicular movement, but at many places, there are sharp curves. There is a need to erect crash barriers at Dhagvani, Khauda and a few other points on the road, which will help prevent accidents. The Public Works Department should install crash barriers on priority. —Narender Kumar, Mandi
