Bhanu Prakash of Southern Range and Pooja from Northern Range bagged the best athletes award in the men and women category in the state-level police games that concluded here today.

Bhanu won gold in men 100 metre, 200 metre and 400-metre race, long jump and silver in triple jump and 4×100 metre rally race.

Pooja won three gold in 100 metre, 200 metre race and long jump. She also won silver in shot put.

The overall best team in sports and athletics was Northern Range.

In other sportsm Northern Range emerged champions in football and athletics. Central Range emerged champions in basketball, volleyball in both men and women category. The Central Unit emerged champions in handball championship. The kabaddi championship was won by Southern Range.

In commando competition, the Central Unit team emerged winners.

Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj presided over the closing ceremony of the meet. Bhardwaj said sports helped in keeping the police force fit and the force should contribute more towards promoting sports in its cadres so that police personal could do well at the national and international level.
