Bike theft gang busted, 6 arrested

The arrested individuals include Aditya Sharma (22) from Sundernagar, Prince Sandhyar (22) from Barmana, and four minors from Bilaspur and Mandi districts. The gang, which was also active in Baddi, targeted areas with high motorcycle usage. The members were well-trained in stealing bikes by tampering with locks and driving them away.

The stolen bikes were intended for sale at prices ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000. Some bikes were recovered from the gang members’ rented rooms, while others were found at a car painter’s location. All six arrested individuals were school dropouts, and their criminal records are being further investigated.

The gang predominantly targeted expensive motorcycles parked in public places and deserted areas. Based on technical surveillance and intelligence gathered by a special team formed by senior officers, the police were able to track the gang’s activities and successfully recover the stolen motorcycles.

“The gang was planning to sell the bikes illegally, but our timely action thwarted their plan,” added SP Kumar. He also mentioned that further investigations are underway to determine if other stolen vehicles are involved and to apprehend any other associates of the gang.

Baddi Police assured the public that they will continue to take strict actions to maintain law and order, and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
