Bilaspur braveheart Havildar Baldev Chand bid adieu with full state honours

He sacrificed his life while fighting with terrorists in Kupwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir

Havildar Baldev Chand was given a tearful farewell with full state honours at his native Gangaloh village in Bilaspur district today. He sacrificed his life while fighting with terrorists in Kupwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir. His mortal remains reached his ancestral village where the final rites were performed as per military traditions and full state honours.

Baldev Chand served in the Indian Army for nearly 14 years. He is survived by his wife Shivani, six-year-old son Ishan Thakur, his parents and younger brother Dinesh Chand.

Army and state government officials acknowledged his bravery and commitment, noting that his sacrifice would always be remembered.

While paying tribute to the martyr, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani said, “Havildar Baldev Chand’s supreme sacrifice for the motherland will never be forgotten and continue to inspire future generations.”

The minister said he was to attend a conclave in Palampur and would personally meet the martyr’s family upon his return and convey his condolences. The minister assured that the entire state stands firmly with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.

Senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar, Superintendent of Police Sandeep Dhawal, along with a large number of villagers and Army personnel, paid their last respects to the martyr.
