He was addressing a review meeting of Block Development Officers and representatives of Gram Panchayats in Bilaspur on Monday.
On the occasion, the DC felicitated the pradhans and secretaries of 12 gram panchayats that have achieved 100 per cent of their set targets under the scheme. He said as per the 2011 Census, 25 villages in Bilaspur district with a population of more than 500 and with over 40 per cent Scheduled Caste population were selected under PMAGY.
Highlighting the scheme’s scope, Rahul Kumar said PMAGY focuses on comprehensive development across 10 key sectors, monitored through 50 socio-economic indicators. Villages not covered under existing central or state schemes are supported through a Gap-Filling Fund, while convergence with state schemes is being used to bridge infrastructure and service delivery gaps. Each selected village has been allocated Rs 20 lakh to support this initiative.
The DC further stated that out of 4,761 beneficiaries identified under various departmental schemes in these 25 villages, 4,623 have already been assisted, thereby achieving 97 per cent of the target. He directed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure 100 per cent saturation under each relevant scheme.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of development works and granted approval for replacing outdated projects with new, more relevant ones. The panchayats felicitated for their achievements included Binola, Bholi, Deoli, Kothipura and Oyal in Sadar Block, Bala, Dudian and Paploa in Jhanduta Block, Panoha and Patta in Ghumarwin Block and Gwalthai in Shri Naina Devi Ji Block.
