The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organised a one-day workshop at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Kinnaur Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Sharma attended the workshop as the chief guest.

During the workshop, the BIS provided detailed information on the standardisation process and hallmarking of gold and silver. The doubts of officials and employees were addressed through mutual dialogue, highlighting product quality and provisions for penalties under the Act.

Additionally, the workshop included discussions on the ISI mark, consumer rights and product verification by jewellers. Participants were informed about the government’s initiatives to raise consumer awareness about standard safety measures to build a strong society in the era of global competition.

The DC congratulated the organisers and emphasised the need of organising more workshops to empower consumers. Assistant Commissioner Vijay Kumar, Chief Medical Officer Dr Sonam Negi, District Welfare Officer Balbir Thakur, the Inspector of Food and Civil Supplies and other officials were also present on the occasion.
