The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) has come down heavily on the BJP government for overlooking the development of Chamba district and disapproved party’s claims about the development during its rule of over two years.

HPCC chief spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Pathania said the BJP’s Central and state governments could not launch any new project for the development of Chamba district.

Pathania expressed concern stating that the main roads in the district were in bad shape while the roads linking the interior villages were in a worse condition. The Chamba-Chowari road, which needed widening, was the worst hit, he said.

On the other hand, inauguration plates put up for the development works started during the Congress regime were being destroyed, Pathania said.

Pathania added that it was unfortunate that some Congress leaders were leaving the party because of their personal interests and described such acts as ‘opportunism’.

Pathania took the BJP government to task for not generating avenues of livelihood for the youth in the state by inviting the investors. Even the burden of taxes had increased and the economical structure was on the verge of collapse, he added.

Mentioning about the present scenario at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital (PJNGMC&H), Pathania pointed out that the arrangements in the hospital to combat the threat of Covid were not sufficient.

He advised the government to take appropriate steps to deploy specialists and necessary machinery including apparatus and accessories required for clinical tests at the local medical college; failing which the government would be responsible for any lapse. DCC president Neeraj Nayar was also present.
