State BJP president Rajeev Bindal said it is due to the efforts of party workers that the membership drive had been completed. “We now have 18 lakh ordinary members and 27,000 active members. The process for constituting 12 member committees at the booth level had been completed in 7750 of the total 7990 polling booths, he said.

Bindal said the BJP as an organisation was being strengthened by including booth presidents and heads of Mann ki Baat programme, women, youth and senior citizens cells. “In Himachal, the BJP had 74 mandals at the constituency level which have now been increased to 171. Out of 171 mandals, presidents in 143 mandals have been elected,” he said. The election process was nearing completion in the stipulated 90 days period, he added.
