All India Congress Committee (AICC) co-incharge for Himachal Chetan Chauhan today accused the BJP of insulting the valour of the country’s armed forces and using Operation Sindoor for political mileage.

“The BJP leaders are insulting the army officers by making objectionable comments on them from public platforms. Neither the top leadership of the BJP is taking any action against such leaders, nor the Prime Minister was reigning in such individuals,” he said.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters here today, Chauhan said the government should reveal the contours of the ceasefire signed with Pakistan and the role American President Donald Trump played in it.

He further said that the Prime Minister even ignored Rahul Gandhi’s demand to hold a special session of Parliament after the hostilities with Pakistan to honour the valour of armed forces in Operation Sindoor.

“The Congress is holding Jai Hind Sabha to honour the brave soldiers of the country,” he said.

Chauhan also took a jibe at the BJP’s reported plan to distribute vermilion to women in the campaign to take the success of

Operation Sindoor to every household.

“No self-respecting woman would ever accept sindoor from any person other than her husband. Using Operation Sindoor to play with the sentiments of people is both unfortunate and shameful,” he said.

Meanwhile, All India Congress Committee secretary Vidit Chaudhary alleged that Centre was trying to hide its failure by resorting to such gimmicks.

“Neither the truth of Pulwama nor that of the Pahalgam attack has been revealed to the country till date. And now the BJP is talking of distributing vermilion to the women of the country, which is ridiculous to say the least,” he said.
