Hamirpur, July 3
BJP state Kisan Morcha president and chairman of the State Workers Welfare Board Rakesh Sharma Babli, who died of heart attack yesterday, was cremated at his native Budhan village in Barsar today.
He was on his way to Kinnaur from Shimla when he suffered a heart attack near Negulsari. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Rampur, but died on the way.
Leaders from various parties attended his funeral. Rural Development Minister Virender Kanwar, Barsar MLA Inder Dutt Lakhanpal and state BJP spokesman Vinod Thakur were among those present.
Babli started his political innings from the ABVP and served in the RSS and the BJP at various positions.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said the news of Babli’s untimely death was extremely painful. “I can’t believe that Babli has left us forever,” he said. BJP state president Suresh Kashyap said the death of Babli was an irreparable loss to the party. BJP state in charge Avinash Rai Khanna said Babli would be remembered as an honest and a hardworking leader.
BJP state co-in charge Sanjay Tandon said Babli would be remembered for his contributions to strengthen the party.
BJP national president JP Nadda said the untimely demise of Rakesh Sharma Babli was unfortunate.
