The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) has alleged that BJP leaders and ministers are misusing the government machinery for campaigning in the Fatehpur Assembly byelection.
Chander Kumar, Congress observer and HPCC general secretary, today said that sensing the defeat of its candidate in the byelection, the BJP was violating the code of conduct during campaigning. It was abusing the government machinery and threatening government employees to support its candidate.
He said that Forest Minister Rakesh Pathania should apologise for his alleged derogatory remarks against HPCC president Kuldeep Rathore. He added that such derogatory remarks of the BJP leaders against the Congress leadership reflected their political frustration.
“The Forest Minister termed the HPCC chief as ‘mandh buddhi’ (mentally challenged). Such below the belt remark by the BJP leader, who is also a Cabinet minister, shows the ruling party’s frustration as people of the Fatehpur constituency are keeping away from the BJP’s election meetings being addressed by ministers,” he said.
The Congress observer said that the BJP was unable to offer answers to the poll issues of the unprecedented price rise in essential commodities, petrol, diesel and cooking gas being raised by the Congress.
