Local MLA and former BJP state president Satpal Singh Satti today extended the party’s support to the Himachal Pradesh Patwaris and Kanungo Mahasangh for their strike against the alleged ‘injustice’ by the state government.

In a press note issued here, Satti said the state government had changed the service cadre of these employees from the district level to the state cadre so that they could be transferred anywhere in the state.

Satti said this unilateral move of the government was against the Recruitment and Promotion Rules, under which these revenue officers were inducted into the service. He added the government should revoke the notification immediately.

He said the revenue officers had been working with honesty and diligence, both towards the government and to the people of the state. He said the Congress party had come to power in the state by promising sops to the state employees, but instead it had taken anti-employee decisions.

Satti said the government had taken this step to avoid giving financial benefits and due promotions to the revenue officers since the coffers were empty.
