BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma receives threat to life, police launch investigation
BJP MLA from Dharamsala, Sudhir Sharma, has received a threatening letter at his residence, prompting him to file a complaint with the Dharamsala police station. The letter, posted from Dhaulatpur area of Una district, threatened to eliminate Sharma and his family.
Sharma, who was in Delhi at the time of the incident, stated that this was the second time he had received a threat to his life after quitting the Congress and voting for BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan during the Rajya Sabha election from Himachal. Initially, he had received a phone call, which he didn’t take seriously, thinking it was the handiwork of disgruntled Congress workers. However, after recent reports of Punjab gangsters issuing threats to Himachal residents, Sharma decided to file a police complaint.
SSP Kangra, Shalini Agnihotri, said that a case in the matter has been registered on the complaint of Sudhir Sharma’s personal assistant. The police are investigating the matter.
This incident is not the first time Sharma has faced threats. Last year, he filed a police complaint about a drone flying over his house in Dharamsala, threatening his privacy.
Himachal Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri has also acknowledged that businessmen in the state have been receiving threat calls from Punjab gangsters, highlighting the seriousness of the issue.
