Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday hit out at the Opposition BJP for “baseless criticism” at a time when the state is still grappling with post-monsoon disaster restoration.
Speaking on his arrival in Dharamsala for the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha, Sukhu said BJP leaders were raising frivolous issues merely “to stay in the limelight and please their political bosses in Delhi.” Responding to media queries, the Chief Minister said, “If BJP leaders want to talk about corruption, law and order or governance, the government is fully prepared. But they should not come to the Vidhan Sabha only to stage walkouts or for a picnic.” He added that while the Opposition had every right to walk out, but such protests “must be based on facts and real issues.”
Sukhu reiterated that development remained the government’s priority, highlighting ongoing efforts to make Dharamsala the tourism capital of Himachal. He said the land acquisition process for the airport expansion was being expedited to strengthen tourism infrastructure.
On the appointment of Vinay Kumar as the new Congress president, Sukhu called him “experienced, friendly and cheerful,” expressing confidence that the party would grow stronger under his leadership through collective effort.
