The BJP in Hamirpur district has finalised the election of presidents for the remaining five block units after resolving internal disputes. Delayed due to differences among senior leaders, the elections were held for blocks in Sujanpur, Hamirpur and Barsar constituencies.
In Sujanpur constituency, Jaswant Singh was elected president of Sujanpur Tihra Block, while Vikram Rana took charge of Bansan Block. Hamirpur City and Rural units elected Pal Sharma and Jasveer Singh, respectively. In Barsar constituency, Yashveer Singh was unanimously chosen as president of the Dhatwal Block unit.
The delays stemmed from disagreements between senior leaders, with newer entrants from Congress seeking key roles for their supporters, while long-time BJP leaders aimed to secure positions for their loyalists.
Former minister Rajinder Garg announced the Hamirpur unit presidents, both reportedly close to MLA Ashish Sharma. In Sujanpur, former MLA Rajinder Rana and Dhumal loyalists each secured a position, reflecting a compromise. Meanwhile, Yashveer Singh emerged as a consensus candidate for Barsar’s Dhatwal unit.
This resolution marks an effort to balance internal factions and strengthen the party’s organisational structure.
