Hamirpur: BJP showering bullets on farmers says CITU national secretary
Hamirpur, February 26
The Centre for Indian Trade Unions today staged a protest outside the DC office premises here. The protestors said the actions of the PM Modi-led government against farmers conducting peaceful protests were condemnable. CITU national secretary Kashmir Singh Thakur said BJP leaders had announced that they would make provisions for Minimum Support Price to farmers as per the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission, but after assuming government, the leaders were showering bullets on farmers.
CITU supported the demands of farmers, Thakur said, adding that the Modi-led government had not implemented the demands accepted by the Centre during the farmers’ protest last year.
A youth was killed following the firing and the use of tear gas on the peacefully protesting farmers, he added. The CITU leader said Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and Union Home Minister Amit Shah should resign as they failed to maintain law and order in Haryana.
