The BJP has launched a scathing attack on the state government, accusing it of betraying employees and failing across all governance fronts. BJP chief spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal said the Congress came to power by luring employees with the promise of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), but was now punishing the same class. He criticised the withdrawal of the higher grade pay notification, which resulted in salary cuts of Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 for over 20,000 government employees, calling it a breach of trust.

Jamwal alleged that the government had become anti-people, impacting every section from farmers and women to youth and traders. He said the Sukhu government’s guarantees had turned into “guarantees of betrayal”.

Echoing these concerns, BJP state spokesperson Ajay Rana said the government’s poor financial planning had pushed Himachal into crisis. He slammed the sudden rollback of benefits for civil servants. — TNS
