BJP to raise issue of discrimination with Kangra on Dec 18: Parmar
The BJP will raise the issue of discrimination with Kangra during its ‘Jan Akrosh’ rally on December 18 to be held in Dharamsala. This was stated by former Speaker of Himachal Vidhan Sabha and BJP MLA from Sullah Vipin Singh Parmar while addressing a press conference here today.
Parmar alleged that since the present Congress government took charge in the state, Kangra region, which is part of lower Himachal, was facing discrimination. Dharamsala, which is the district headquarters of Kangra district, used to act as second capital of state. Winter sojourn was organised by the government in which the Chief Minister used to stay at Dharamsala and listen to the grievances of people of lower areas. However, in the last two years winter sojourn has not been held.
Besides, the CM’s camp office located in Dharamsala has been abandoned and a new office has been opened in Dehra. The office of SP has been opened in Dehra despite the fact that there was no crime there, Parmar alleged.
He further alleged that the issue of North Campus of Central University of Himachal Pradesh has been hanging fire for the past two years. The state government was not depositing Rs 30 crore for transferring land in the name of CUHP in Jadrangal area of Dharamsala Assembly constituency due to which Rs 250 crore released by the Union government for the North Campus of the CUHP was not getting utilised. The BJP would take up the issue of CUHP during the rally forcefully.
Parmar said that the present Congress government was trying to sell the prime properties in Kangra to outsiders. Initially, a proposal was made to transfer prime land of Palampur Agriculture University to outsiders in the name of setting up a Tourism Village. The decision has been stayed by the Himachal High Court. The government was also planning to sell prime properties of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation by showing that these were incurring losses, he said.
The BJP leaders from Kangra district held a meeting at the residence of party MLA from Dharamsala Sudhir Sharma to discuss arrangements to be made for organising the party rally on December 18. Party leaders Pawan Kajal, BJP MLA from Kangra and Sudhir Sharma were also present along with Vipin Singh Parmar.
