BJP’s bid to topple Himachal Govt thwarted by loyal MLAs: Anil Sehgal
Mandi, March 1
Anil Sehgal, senior spokesperson for the District Congress Committee, said the act of Lahaul and Spiti MLA Ravi Thakur against his own party was shameful.
MLA Ravi Thakur, along with other five Congress MLAs, had voted against his party candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the Rajya Sabha elections at Shimla, which led the victory of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan. Sehgal said the act of bringing down the state government by the MLAs of their own party was shameful and yesterday the Speaker had taken strict cognisance of this act by disqualifying the six MLAs.
He said the BJP’s attempt to topple the state government had been thwarted by the efforts of some loyal MLAs of the Congress party.
Sehgal added, “District Congress president Gyalsan Thakur, former district president Norbu Bodh, state Congress secretary Pyare Lal, Udaipur block president Devi Singh and former block president Norbu Pans, in their joint statement, strongly protested against the cross-voting done by MLA Ravi Thakur against Congress candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi. In their statement, they said the party workers had never thought that our own MLA would be so openly involved in this conspiracy.”
